Subject: Service Support of Thermo Scientific (Sorvall) Floor Model Superspeed Centrifuges

It has come to our attention that Thermo Scientific has issued important product information regarding the Sorvall RC2, RC3, and RC5 series centrifuges. According to correspondence from Thermo Scientific, full service contracts for these models have been discontinued as of 1/31/2010. Effective 1/31/2011, Thermo Scientific will no longer provide support and service. Parts will not be available from Thermo Scientific for these models.

Spectrofuge would like to assure all of our contract and time/materials customers that we will continue to support all of the RC series centrifuges that have been discontinued by the manufacturer. This includes the RC2B,  RC3B, RC5, RC5B and RC5C models. We have taken measures to maintain our parts inventory for these models. Spectrofuge foresees that we will be able to provide service and support for these as well as all other Thermo Scientific Sorvall centrifuges for many more years to come.

Spectrofuge has continually sought out parts sources from various suppliers over the years in preparation for situations like this. We take pride in the fact that we can maintain the older equipment in the research community in order that the researchers can focus on the task at hand instead of funding new equipment.
